Doha: The Ministry of Public Health will organise the 3rd Qatar Patient Safety Week during the period from September 24 to 30 under the theme 'Together for Patient Safety with the participation of more than 1,000 health practitioners.
The Patient Safety Week, which will be held under the auspices of the Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, is an annual event organised by the Ministry at the national level as an initiative and an educational and awareness campaign aimed at spreading the concept of patient safety among health care workers and beneficiaries.
The aim of the event is to promote and disseminate the culture of patient safety through dialogue with decision-makers in all health fields to develop regulations and laws necessary to raise the levels of care and awareness about the concept of patient safety. It also aims to encourage communication between decision-makers, healthcare providers and patients and share information, experiences and knowledge on best practices in patient safety.
The event sheds light on the challenges facing the activation of national initiatives in this area, the creation and development of appropriate solutions through public-private cooperation, and the creation of a forum for dialogue between patients and health care providers to promote patient participation in building a safe health system.
The programme of the Patient Safety Week features a number of activities including lectures, workshops and training programs, with the participation of distinguished experts in the field of health care quality and safety of patients from inside and outside Qatar. It also includes role plays for health practitioners to improve the safety of patients in their health institutions in addition to a poster competition for local projects on quality improvement and patient safety, where the top five posters will be honored.
In addition, public awareness campaigns will be launched on September 26 at a number of health centers and on 29 and 30 of this month at a commercial center to promote awareness and launch initiatives on patient safety.
