Pakistan- PHC seeks reply from KP govt over not appointing Mohtasib on sexual harassment cases

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 20 September: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought reply from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government within two days over not appointing Mohtasib for hearing sexual harassment cases.

A petition filed by Da Hawa Loor, a welfare organisation, on Tuesday states that Mohtasibs have been appointed in Punjab, Sindh and on federal level to hear such cases, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has not appointed Mohtasib for hearing cases of women victims of sexual harassment despite repeated surfacing of such cases at educational institutions and other departments.

The additional advocate general appeared in the court and provincial Mohtasib Waqar Ayub has retired and appointment on the vacant post will be made soon. The court reminded him that the case is about a special Mohtasib for hearing sexual harassment cases, not about the provincial Mohtasib. The court upon the request of the additional advocate general gave two-day time to the government to submit reply.
