New York, Dhu-AlHijjah 28, 1438, Sep 19, 2017, SPA -- GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Aluwaisheg has met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen Dr. Abdulmalek Al-Makhlafi on Monday, September 18, 2017, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the General Assembly in New York.
During the meeting, the GCC Assistant Secretary General stressed GCC stance supporting the legitimacy of Yemen represented by Yemeni President Abdrabbou Mansour Hadi and his legitimate government, and supporting all efforts led by UN and its Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed to end the crisis in the Republic of Yemen through a political solution based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, outcomes of the comprehensive political dialogue and Security Council Resolution no. 2216.
The meeting also reviewed the results of the 2nd meeting of the Donor Coordination Group on humanitarian side of Yemen, which was hosted by the GCC General Secretariat.
The meeting discussed the latest political, economic and humanitarian developments in Yemen and the GCC efforts in helping Yemen to overcome the crisis.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Makhlafi praised all the efforts exerted by the GCC to provide support for legitimacy in Yemen.
