Geneva, Dhul-Hijjah 28, 1438 H., Sep 19, 2017, SPA -- A report of the Yemeni Coalition to Monitor Human Rights Violations has documented 630 cases of recruitment of children into the ranks of Al-Houthi and Saleh coup militias.
In her speech before the symposium, the human rights activist Huda Al-Sarari explained that the militias are exploiting the difficult social and economic conditions of children in Yemen to recruit children in a flagrant violation of human rights.
For his part, the UN expert Alfred de Zayas at Human Rights Council said that the Convention on the Rights of the Child prohibits the exploitation of children in military actions, explaining that the International Criminal Court in The Hague classifies persons responsible for recruiting children as war criminals.
