Oman- OCCI Innovation Award: Finalists from North Batinah, Musandam and Dhofar announced


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The finalists of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Innovation Award from North Batinah, Musandam and Dhofar have been announced.

The two projects that have qualified from North Batinah and Musandam are: 'Innovative Software Tool for Individuals with Communication Disabilities' by Fatma al Mujainiya, and 'Design and Development of Painting Machine with Scraper Attachment' by Dr Vishnupriyan Sethumadhavan.

The award is jointly organised by The Research Council (TRC), stated a press release.

The evaluation was held at the Sohar College of Applied Sciences on September 14.

From the Governorate of Dhofar the evaluation committee has shortlisted the projects, 'Tourist Destination Reader Application' and 'Electronic Automatic Aquaculture' for the finals.

The finalists from all governorates will compete in November this year.

OCCI Innovation Award aims to motivate Omani youth by developing their ideas in the scientific and technical fields, and to implement those into products and useful services.

A total of 460 innovators applied across evaluation centres in the award's first stage.

The top winners of the award at the third stage will have the opportunity to implement their ideas at Innovation Park Muscat (IPM) of TRC, as well as the opportunity to participate in international competitions. The winners will also be awarded cash prizes.

The award covers a range of fields including tourism, energy, food, security, environment, health, IT, industry and logistics.
