King leads Jordan's delegation to UNGA..1st and final add


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) In his speech at the opening session, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres referred to a range of challenges facing the world, including the nuclear danger, terrorism, famine, human rights abuses and climate change, as well as the absence of political solutions to many conflicts and worsening migration problems.

Guterres spoke about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, stressing that the two-state solution is the only way to move forward in the peace process.

He called on Myanmar authorities to stop military operations against the Muslim Rohingya minority and to allow immediate access to humanitarian aid.

Miroslav Lajcak, President of the United Nations General Assembly, said: "We are spending too much time and money reacting to conflicts, and not enough on preventing them." U.S. President Donald Trump thanked Jordan, Turkey and Lebanon for taking in refugees, stressing that his country will continue to support host countries to address the refugee crisis.

On the war on terrorism, Trump emphasized that:" We must deny the terrorists' safe haven, transit, funding, and any form of support".

President Trump also spoke on a number of issues, including the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the Syrian crisis and the need to reform the United Nations.
