Ghani speaks at Global Hope Coalition event in NY

(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani says hate creates divisions among peoples while hope removes distance, stressing the need for efforts to promote amenity.

Ghani, who arrived to New York on Monday evening to attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly, made the remarks in his address at a Global Hope Coalition event.

A statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said leaders of several countries attended the gathering. €œThe world is in a vague state and in such a situation, we should thank those working to promote hope and love,€ Ghani said.

Global Hope Coalition officials asked Ghani to offer an award to Laura Bush. The president awarded the prize to the former first lady and praised her visit to a girls' hostel in Kabul during her recent trip to Afghanistan.

Laura Bush thanked Ghani for the prize and promised she would always stand by Afghan women and children and would not hesitate in supporting them.

The Global Hope Coalition was created to fight against extremism and violence and help children worldwide, particularly in Afghanistan.
