Geneva, Dhul-Hijjah 27, 1438 H., September 18, 2017, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that the suffering of Syrian people is still going on as Assad regime continues to commit brutal crimes and violate the principles of the international law on human rights and international humanitarian law.
This came in the Kingdom's speech delivered today by the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Abdullah Al-Wasel at a debate held by the International Committee on Investigations in Syria, an affiliate of the International Human Rights Council.
Al-Wasel gave an account on the latest string of violations committed by Damascus, citing the use of Serine and Chlorine gases in opposition-held areas, killing and injuring tens of innocents, most of them children and women.
He held the world community responsible of doing whatever could coerce Assad regime stop such atrocities.
Al-Wasel expressed the Kingdom's sorrow to see that most victims were innocent civilians, according to the report issued by the International committee investigating the armed conflict in Syria.
He confirmed the Kingdom's firm position calling for creating a political process supportive environment under the patronage of the United Nations to reach a comprehensive arrangement based on Geneva principles and the UN Security Council's resolution No. 2254 in what achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people to build a new future for their country.
