(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Stars League has made the draw for the upcoming QSL Cup yesterday morning at Al Bidda tower. The event, which was held in the presence of Ahmed al-Adsani, Director of Competitions Department of the Qatar Stars League, club officials and media.
The draw saw all 12 QNB Stars League sides drawn into the following groups: Group A: Al-Duhail, Al Gharafa, Al Kharaitiyat, Al Sailiya, Al Khor, Qatar Club. Group B: Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Umm Salal, Al Arabi, Al Ahli, Al Markhiya.
The tournament is set to take place after third week of QNB Stars League action, when the competition will take a two-week break for international football.
QSL officials also revealed that further details of the competition, including match dates and stadiums will be announced in due course following liaison with the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
QSL officials also revealed that U-23 and Youth players are eligible to play in the tournament, and that any cards picked up in the competition are separate from the disciplinary procedures of the league programme.
The format of the competition means that each team faces the fellow five sides once in a league format.
The top two sides in each group will be drawn against each other in the semi-finals before the winners take on each other in a showpiece final.
