(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The aircraft's passengers were received by the Foreign Ministry's Secretary-General, Zeid Lawzi, and a number of senior officials.
Lawzi told Petra that "From the very beginning St. Martin island was hit by hurricane Irma, Jordanian community residing there contacted the ministry's operation center and briefed officials on the current situation".
The ministry's Operation Center Director, Bashir Rawashdeh, said a standing committee was formed to discuss ways of evacuating Jordanians living in the island.
He said 71 citizens out of 96 were evacuated, while 25 others preferred to stay in the island for the sake of their business, but they sent their families back home.
Hurricane Irma destroyed 95%' of the French part of St Martin island, which is divided in two parts between France and the Netherlands.
