Palestinians reject talks amid continuing Israeli settlements

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- Israel is working hard to maintain the settlements and judaization policies on the Palestinian territories during which the international and US efforts are taking place to resume negotiations, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

In a statement, the Ministry expressed the refusal of the Palestinian political leadership and people to those polices, saying this would not provide the proper atmosphere for negotiations between both sides.

The remarks were made in response to remarks by Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman yesterday, during his visit to Al-Aghwar and the Dead Sea area, as he considered settlements in the West Bank a protective wall for Israel.

"We are preparing a comprehensive security plan for the West Bank," Liberman said.

The statement was regarded by the Palestinian Ministry part of the Israeli officials provoking calls to annex the West Bank to Israel and applying the state's law on its lands.

The Palestinian Ministry also called the international community to take immediate steps to guarantee the implementation of the international resolutions related to decision 181, in support to the establishments to Palestinian state by borders of 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital.

The ignorance and indifference status of the international community towards the escalation of Israeli violations encourages members of Israeli ruling right- wing to commit further violations in settlement building and judaization of occupied Palestinian territories, it said. This undermines any remaining chances for the establishment of the state of Palestine, of total sovereignty, side by side with Israel, it said (end) nq.lb
