British police in ongoing action post blast

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) LONDON, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Police have evacuated a whole residential district of its inhabitants in Sunbury-on-Thames in Surrey, west of London, after bursting into a house in search for culprits in the latest bombing attack.

Police said the house in Sunburry was searched following arrest of a suspect in southern Dover.

Meanwhile, Interior Secretary Amber Rudd said in a statement that she chaired a meeting of the emergency committee Cobra, during which it was decided to maintain the terrorist threat level at critical.

British police and security authorities have been on high alert since yesterday, when a crude bomb went off aboard a tube train at a London station, injuring at least 20 people.

London affirmed that the bombing was the work of terrorists, amid reported claim of responsibility by the so-called Islamic State (IS).

Britain along with European countries had witnessed a series of such attacks, some claimed by the notorious group. (end) mrn.rk
