Jordan- Financial situation of UNRWA discussed


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Director General of the Palestinian Affairs Department Yassin Abu Awad on Sunday met with UNRWA Deputy Commissioner General Sandra Mitchell and discussed with her the financial situation of the UN agency that cares for Palestinian refugees.

The meeting also dealt with efforts to secure the necessary funding to enable UNRAWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees, to continue its services to the refugees.

They also reviewed ways and means to enhance services of UNRWA in Jordan in the education, health, and relief fields, and address the challenges resulting from the increasing demand on UNRWA services.

The UNRWA official praised efforts of His Majesty the King, the Jordanian government and the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs to rally international support for the UN agency to ensure the continuity of its services to the Palestinian refugees.
