President Donald Trump's visa policy has shattered the US dreams of IITians who bagged crore-plus offers from software-giants last year.

Companies are trying to fulfill their promises, but students are wary of American offers.

After Trump became President, in Dec'16, the number of US offers fell to single-digits at IITs as Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Singapore, and European countries found place on students' preference list.


Microsoft offers Canadian positions to students who bagged US jobs

Most IIT students who bagged jobs in 2016 are yet to start work in the US; some have joined the companies' India offices.

Some firms are offering alternatives abroad, including Microsoft, which offered Canadian jobs.

Graduates are looking forward to joining Microsoft's Canadian office, though the packages aren't the same.

However, the tech-giant reportedly promised to transfer them to US after 1-2 years.
