Jordan eyes major shift to clean energy

(MENAFN) Jordan has been placed at the forefront of renewables in the region, while the sector now is stalling as it waits for the nation's energy infrastructure to catch up.

Furthermore, plans are in place for up to 2.000MW in wind and solar projects by the end of the decade.

At the start of the coming year, a new Green Corridor project will transfer power generated in south Jordan to elect consumption centers in the central and northern areas.

In Jan, Jordan's state elect provider, the National Elect Power Co. inked a deal to install the first two phases of the project with a Saudi firm at USD27mn cost.
