After establishing a firm foothold in India's online marketplace, Amazon is looking to tap the high-margin fashion business to cash in on forthcoming festive sales. The US e-commerce giant has launched its fashion imaging studio BLINK in Gurgaon, New Delhi, its third such studio after New York and London.

Covering an area of over 44,000 sq feet, it will have 16 photography bays, a ramp and a presentation area along with enclosed workspaces for Amazon teams and fashion sellers. The studio will help create a better digital catalogue, especially in the case of brands with which Amazon has inked exclusive deals, according to newspaper.

The studio also includes resources to create editorial content. Fashion brands can avail the services offered by the studio to create multimedia content they may like to push through their marketing channels.

Amazon claims it has a list of 15,000 fashion labels, which includes some big brands such as Calvin Klein and Marks and Spencer. It is also luring brands into featuring their new season collections first on Amazon.

The e-tailer is banking on smartphone penetration, especially in non-urban cities, to display its vast product collections.

Earlier in March, Flipkart-owned online fashion retailer launched its first offline store Roadster in Bangalore. The store has an array of gadgets and touch screen monitors to provide virtual reality experience for customers to browse the products.
