Jordan- Nasser Judeh appointed as member of UN Advisory Board


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) New York, Sept 14 (Petra)- The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres late Wednesday decided to form a new High-Level Advisory Board on Mediation of 18 internationally-recognized personalities, including Jordan's former foreign minister Nasser Judeh.

"I am announcing today the establishment of a new High-Level Advisory Board on Mediation," Guterres said, adding that "the Board is made up of 18 internationally-recognized personalities who bring experience and skills, deep knowledge and extensive contacts to this extremely important task." "When I took office, I called for a surge in diplomacy for peace. Since then, I have increased my own engagement and worked to improve our institutional capacity to conduct mediation," the Secretary-General noted.

Algerian Minister Ramtane Lamamra is also one of the High-Level Advisory Board's members.

The formation of the Board comes within the framework of efforts to reform the UN and strengthen its role through diplomatic mediation.
