Occupation forces demolish 8 homes detain 5 Palestinians

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ramallah: The Israeli occupation forces demolished yesterday eight homes and six retaining walls in Steih Dyouk, a village to the west of Jericho in the West Bank.
According to Palestinian news Agency (WAFA), the army brought four bulldozers to the village and demolished eight homes that were ready to be inhabited along with six retaining walls built to protect the homes and land from landslides and floods during the winter season.
The area where the homes were built was supposed to have been included within Jericho city since 2013, which means under full Palestinian control, but the Israeli occupation authorities still consider it as Area C under complete Israeli military rule.
Governor of Jericho Majed Fityani condemned the Israeli demolitions in Steih Dyouk after visiting the area and called on all civil and international human rights organisations to immediately intervene to put an end to Israels violations against the Palestinian residents in this area.
He said the Israeli demolitions and other violations will not deter the Palestinian residents and farmers from building homes and farming their lands.
Meanwhile, a number of Palestinians were suffocated due to inhaling tear gas fired at them by Israeli occupation forces during clashes erupted in Abu Dis town, southeast of the occupied Jerusalem, on Wednesday.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that clashes broke out after the occupation troops stormed the town in order to carry out arrest campaigns against the locals.
Following the storming of Abu Dis, confrontations erupted between Israeli soldiers, who fired tear gas canisters against the residents and Palestinian youths, who defended themselves by throwing stones and empty bottles.
The occupation forces detained at least five Palestinians in different parts of the West Bank yesterday.
