Qatar Charity allocates QR5m for displaced Rohingyas
Qatar Charity has allocated QR5m for new relief projects to alleviate the suffering of internally displaced Rohingya people inside Myanmar and refugees who have been forced to flee to Bangladesh.
In a press release, the charity stated that the amount was earmarked for food, shelter and non-food items and will cover tens of thousands of refugees and displaced Rohingya people.
The charity said that it had already initiated a number of these projects through its field office in Bangladesh, or in cooperation with a number of United Nations agencies and international organizations, as part of its humanitarian campaign. It pointed out that QR1 million of the total amount was directed to Myanmar to build 40 emergency shelters in coordination with the British International Islamic Relief Organization in order to provide housing for the displaced.
