(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Cabinet on Monday held their weekly session at Al-Seef Palace, headed by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The ministers congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the third anniversary of the UN's decision to name him 'Humanitarian Leader,' according to a statement.
The honour was bestowed upon His Highness in global recognition of his humanitarian efforts and warm initiatives around the world, said the statement, read by State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Information Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdallah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.
These efforts have placed Kuwait at the forefront of global humanitarian action and have given the nation an esteemed position, which also earned it the UN title of 'Humanitarian Centre,' said the ministers.
During the session, First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the ministers on the results of His Highness the Amir's recent visit to the US, where he met President Donald Trump.
The ministers also exchanged views on current regional and international affairs, namely efforts to resolve the Gulf dispute, to reach just and comprehensive Middle East peace and on counter-terrorism.
The cabinet was also briefed on an upcoming visit by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Turkey.
Others who will join include First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh and Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting State Minister for Youth Khaled Al-Roudhan.
Ministers expressed Kuwait's stance in support of Muslim Rohingya community in Myanmar and called for an end to their suffering and plight.
They also expressed sympathy over the devastating impact of Hurricane Irma on the US state of Florida. (end) fs.sd
