Iraq's Kurdistan PM commends Kuwait for hosting rebuilding conf.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Sept 11 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister of Iraq's Kurdistan region Nechirvan Barzani Monday commended Kuwait's Amir His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's initiative to host an international conference to rebuild Iraqi areas liberated from terrorists.

Barzani, during a meeting with Kuwait's Consul in Irbil Dr. Omar Al-Kandari, said the conference, which Kuwait said might be held during the first quarter next year, would positively alleviate suffering of displaced Iraqis.

Al-Kandari told KUNA that Barzani also commended Kuwait for its humanitarian assistance to the displaced Iraqis, as well as praising the leading humanitarian role of His Highness the Amir, who was bestowed by the UN as a Humanitarian Leader three years ago.

Barzani called for further promoting Kuwaiti investment in Kurdistan.

Al-Kandari thanked the government of Iraq's Kurdistan region for facilitating missions of humanitarian convoys to help the displaced Iraqis and Syrians.

The State of Kuwait offered tents, fresh water and food, built health centers, and provided blankets, clothes, heaters and medication. (end) sbr.bs
