Syrian Pres. receives letter from Russian counterpart


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) AMMAN, Sept 12 (KUNA) -- Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad received a letter from Russian leader Vladimir Putin regarding the latest developments in Syria and the upcoming Astana meeting, a Syrian presidential statement said Tuesday.

The statement, which was broadcasted by Syria's official Television Channel, noted that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu delivered the letter during a meeting with Al-Assad in Damascus.

The meeting also delved into Russia-Syria military cooperation and developments on the liberation of Deir Ezzor city from terrorists.

The two sides also reiterated on booting their efforts in the fight against terrorism in all Syrian areas, due to the importance of eliminating terrorism not just for Syria, but to peoples in the region.

The two sides also discussed next Friday Astana meeting and the outcome of areas less affected by tensions and the positive result from combating and eliminating terrorism. (end) tk.mb
