Kuwait- 29,000 citations, 45 arrests, 5 deported in GTD crackdown


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: The General Traffic Department launched several surprise traffic campaigns in all governorates from Sept 3 to Sept 9.

They resulted in the issuance of 28,685 traffic citations of various kinds, impounding of 474 vehicles, arrest of 45 individuals who committed major traffic violations, and impounding of two motorbikes. In addition, five expatriates were referred for deportation after they were caught driving without a driving license.

Meanwhile, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at Ministry of Interior disclosed that 2,438 security missions were organized in the month of August based on the plan of the Directorate General for Airport Security to control the traffic flow within the vicinity of Kuwait International Airport, reports Al-Shahed daily.

During these security missions, 23 vehicles were seized, 2,414 traffic citations were issued and a traffic accident was dealt with. The department urges everyone to comply with traffic laws and regulations and to avoid disrupting the traffic especially in vital facilities such as the airport.
