Kuwait- 3 Lankans held for helping housemaids escape from sponsors


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: Officers from the General Department of Residency Affairs, represented by the Department of Domestic Labor Affairs, arrested three Sri Lankans who used to incite housemaids to escape from their sponsors or from domestic labor offices and then send them to work in the homes of citizens and residents after receiving commission from the latter, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, when the Department of Domestic Labor Affairs received information about the escape of a number of housemaids under mysterious circumstances, a team was formed for investigations. Eventually, the threemember gang was arrested. When questioned, they admitted that they used to loiter around employment agencies and incite housemaids to run away from their sponsors, promising to provide them with better employment.
