Egyptian Police kill nine armed men in shoutout in Giza city


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- Nine armed terrorists were killed Sunday by Egyptian police during storming into two apartments in Giza in southwestern Cairo.

Egypt's state news agency (MENA) quoted an Intrior Ministry source as saying that five policemen were injured during the shoutout.

It added that one of the gunmen detonated an explosive device in his possession before firing on the security troops, noting that the group members were hiding in the apartments and were planning to carry out a number of terrorist operations.

Security men seized many firearms, ammunition, explosive materials and organizational papers during the raids, the senior official said. (end) rg.ha
