Washington, Dhu-AlHijjah 19, 1438, September 10, 2017, SPA -- Florida's governor has issued another dire warning
ahead of the arrival of Hurricane Irma in the southern US state,
calling the situation an "obvious state of emergency." In a press conference late Saturday, Rick Scott said an expected storm surge could be as much as 4.5 metres in the south-western coastal city of Naples, according to dpa.
He added that Irma could spawn tornadoes and dump as much as 38 centimetres of rain on the peninsula and 63 centimetres on the Florida Keys. Scott said that the state has been very aggressive in its preparation for the storm, but he said Floridians will have to deal with its impact, including downed power lines and trees and blocked roads due to flooding. "We want everybody to survive this hurricane," Scott said.
