PESHAWAR, 9 September: Former captain Shahid Khan Afridi has pulled out of Shpageeza Cricket League in Afghanistan citing personal reasons.

Shahid Afridi said in a Twitter message that he is very thankful to Afghan Cricket Board and Shpageeza Cricket League for inviting him to Afghanistan, but he may not be able to participate due to some urgent family matters. He said he looks forward to visiting Afghanistan in future and spreading the message of peace through cricket.

Earlier, the flamboyant all-rounder had announced to play the T20 league in Afghanistan. However, he had turned down an invitation to attend a farewell ceremony for him organised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Media reports said Shahid Afridi is unlikely to attend the PCB function scheduled on 14 September, but he may visit Lahore to witness matches between Pakistan and World XI.
