Blind instructor gives disability the chop

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Sabri Attiya, a visually impaired karate instructor, poses with the awards he won in several local competitions and an international championship in Cairo. Attiya has been teaching karate to young disabled athletes in Egypt for nearly a decade and believes he is no different from any other instructor, despite being blind. 'As someone who challenges his disability.., I would like to say that I am not disabled, the 37-year-old said. Attiya began as a bodybuilder in 1997 but then turned to karate and quickly moved up the ranks, acquiring a black belt after intensive training. He has won several local competitions and, having taken part in the 2014 World Karate Championships in Germany, is determined to represent Egypt in more international tournaments.
