Kuwait- Cause of basement fire probed

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 7: A team of firemen dealt with a fire that erupted in the basement of a nine-storey building in Farwaniya area. No injuries were reported. The Operations Room of the Fire Service Department responded to a distress call regarding the fire, and officers arriving at the scene with security operatives and paramedics evacuated the building and doused the flames in a record time. The cause of fire wasn't immediately known but a case was registered for investigation.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Fire Service Department (KFSD) Wednesday ordered the owner of an investment building located in Fintas area to remove within 72 hours a pile of tires stored in the basement of the building.

Statement added the act of storing tires inside basement is considered a serious violation, as it jeopardizes life and property. And, Director General of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) Lieutenant General Khalid Al-Mekrad visited the first director general of KFSD Ali Al-Mutawa at the Kuwait Center for Protection from Cancer to check on his health. Lieutenant General Al-Mekrad was received by the Director General of Public Relations Colonel Khalil Al-Amir and other high-ranking officials.
