Nine winners at Qatar Summer Festival raffle

The longest edition of Qatar Summer Festival (QSF) organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) came to a dazzling finale last night witnessed by hundreds of people at the Mall of Qatar Oasis stage.

Highlighting the closing programme was the much-awaited QSF 2017 mega raffle draw in which a total of QR300,000 cash prizes and a 2017 Bentley Continental GT V8 were given away to the winners. From among thousands of entries, nine winners were drawn in the presence of representatives from the QTA and Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce including five winners of QR20,000 each, two winners of QR50,000 each, one winner of QR100,000 and the grand prize winner of the luxury car.

There were 145 outlets in seven participating malls including Doha Festival City, Mall of Qatar, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark Mall and The Mall which took part at the festival's Shop & Win promotion which saw thousands of entries. The participating outlets put up attractive promotions including up to 50 percent discounts on products and the chance to enter the draw for every QR200 worth of purchase.

The night's programme also featured live entertainment show with a number of artistes and performers.

On its fourth edition, QSF was lauded for providing a variety of features and offers such as discounts in hotels and restaurants, mall promotions, the Summer Entertainment City and live entertainment including the sold-out summer edition of Doha Comedy Festival held at the Qatar National Convention Centre on Sunday featuring international stand-up comedians.

Yesterday also saw the successful culmination of the nationwide Eid Al Adha events and activities held in more than a dozen locations.

After 11 weeks of offering fun to thousands of visitors, the Summer Entertainment City, which is a major highlight of the festival, saw its conclusion yesterday. The City which was situated at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center gave visitors wide ranging options with its more than 85 games and rides and over 45 food and retail outlets in addition to weekly live entertainment featuring artistes from various countries.

The seven participating malls also brought the curtains down on their unique entertainment and roaming shows which delighted thousands of citizens, residents and tourists in the last five days of the festival which coincided with the Eid Al Adha holidays. From acrobats and musicians to mascots and favourite characters in children's stories, the performances delighted the hearts of both the young and the young at heart.

Souq Waqif and Souq Al Wakrah which erected their respective tents filled with games, rides and activities for children also concluded their Eid activities yesterday after receiving hundreds of families during the Eid holidays.

Thousands of people also trooped the four-day Eid Al Adha Festival at the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) which concluded on Monday. The big crowds enjoyed the shadow theatre performances and pyrotechnic displays staged nightly at Katara beachfront.
