Norway Crown Prince commends Jordan's role toward refugees

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 6 (Petra) -- Crown Prince of Norway, Haakon, on Wednesday said his country's government and the whole world appreciate Jordan's role in assisting and supporting refugees on its territory despite limited resources. Prince Haakon commended the services Jordan provides to the refugees inside refugee camps and in host communities. This came during a visit he paid to the UNICEF-supported Makani centre in Amman.

He stressed that the Kingdom of Norway is working with UNICEF and the Jordanian government to provide suitable educational opportunities for refugees in Jordan, especially Syrian refugees.

He referred to the ministry of education's role in providing education through the establishment of 200 schools running two periods.

During the visit, Prince Haakon looked firsthand at services provided by the Makani center to refugee children and students, especially Syrians, in the field of education, psychological support, life skills and leadership.

The Norwegian prince also visited an elementary school in Amman, which runs two shifts in order to cater for Jordanian and Syrian students.
