Kuwait- Gang of bike thieves nabbed

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested a gang of six people in possession of 7 stolen motorbikes. In a statement by the Public Relations and Media Security Department, the detectives formed a task force after several people filed reports of robbery in various places in Hawalli. Statement said all the crimes appeared to have been committed by the same culprits due to nature of complaints filed.

The gang mostly targeted members of the Asian community, and investigation following their arrest indicated they were involved in various types of robbery including auto-theft, mugging and vandalism. At the time of the arrest, the gang was in possession of 13 stolen mobile phones, in addition to tools used in robbery operations, and 23 cases had been filed against them.

Meanwhile, officers from the Capital Security Directorate launched a campaign on garages in Shuwaikh Industrial Area that repair vehicles used in drifting and other reckless activities without clearance from security authorities. An Interior Ministry press release indicated the officers impounded 15 vehicles repaired without security permit, including those without number plates, vehicles with expired insurance, and others bearing GCC number plates. Public Security Sector confirmed the campaign will continue over an indeterminate period in all governorates to ensure safety and security of the general public.
