German 'flying taxi' company Lillium takes U.S.D90m from Tencent, others

(MENAFN) Lillium, a German start-up with Silicon Valley-scale ambitions to improve a 5-passenger "flying taxi", has increased a second, U.S.D90 million round of financing from top tech operators, making it one of the best-funded electric aircraft projects to date.

Remo Gerber, the previous European managing director of online taxi firm Gett, who was named Lillium"s chief commercial officer last month, "The concept goes far beyond what you typically see from German start-ups said."

Moreover, its ambitions put it more in line with the likes of Tesla or Google than the e-commerce apps which currently takeover the start-up scene in Berlin or the self-financed engineering firms located across the country.
