Souq Al Wakrah's unique charm has proved a magnet to citizens and residents alike this Eid Al Adha as hundreds of visitors thronged the souq which is now fast becoming a favourite family destination.

The Souq's beach which opened to the public in July has been seeing hundreds of people every day who chose to spend the Eid holidays there. Open to families, the beach is gaining popularity due to its stunning location and accessibility being just adjacent to the souq where beach-goers can sample scrumptious food from the long line of restaurants offering diverse cuisine or meander through the alleys leading to the shops to buy various products.

'The beach is pristine and quiet, not to mention there is no entry fee and it's just minutes away from Doha where we live. That's why it is a perfect family getaway this Eid Al Adha, said one of the visitors, who lauded the security and safety of the beach.

The massive tent specially erected for the Eid Al Adha celebrations also saw hundreds of families yesterday. It houses over a couple dozen stalls which offer games and activities for children. Most of the games can be played for a QR10 ticket while a few can be availed free of charge.

'We have been coming here since first day of Eid and the children never get tired of playing many of the games. My two boys particularly enjoy the virtual reality games and boxing, said Ahmed, one of the frequent visitors to the souq.
