Over 150 houses were damaged as strong winds ripped through Kanduruwela in Polonnaruwa this evening.
The strong winds accompanied by heavy rain lashed the area uprooting trees, power lines and hoardings.
Officials said that the roofs of several houses were blown away as a result of the strong wind while some were damaged from falling trees.
The roof of a cement storage facility in the area was also blown away and large stocks of cement got soaked from the heavy rain. (Colombo Gazette)
