Total sells stake in oil field to Kuwait

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- The French oil company Total declared on Monday that it had agreed to sell the remaining of it stake in the Norwegian oil field Gina Krog to Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC).

Total said in a statement that the contract stipulates selling 15 percent of the field, noting that the move is part of the approach for capital optimization, following acquisition of the Danish oil company Maersk.

It declared in August readiness to buy Maersk for USD 7.45 billion to become the second operator in the North Sea. (end) mjz.rk
