Qatar's banking sector depends on Europe for liability

(MENAFN) Banking sector in Qatar depends heavily on Europe on the liability side, as the area accounts for 37 percent of the cross border funded liabilities.

Almost half of the liabilities to global fiscal institutions, 9.6 percent of the total liabilities are from European banks.

In 2016, both assets and liability exposure to outside Qatar have grown; while the asset exposures remained amid the regulatory caps.

Moreover, regional investment to UK may enhance as UK assets become cheaper, while existing investment may post losses due to valuation effect.
