Jordan- Cabinet tasks justice minister to press for extradition of Kurdi

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug 29 (Petra) –– The cabinet Tuesday tasked justice minister Awad Abu Jarad to proceed with legal steps for the extradition of former CEO of the Jordan Phosphates Mines Company, Walid Kurdi, who is convicted on abuse of office and embezzlement charges, and to retrieve the money he obtained illegally.

During a session, chaired by Prime Minister Hani Mulki, the Council of Ministers asked the minister to look at "all available legal options" in coordination with the General Prosecution to seek a Red Notice, an alert published by the international criminal police organisation (interpol), for Kurdi's arrest and extradition to the competent authorities.

It also requested that the justice minister asks for the necessary legal help to retrieve the embezzled money, and to write to the Home Secretary in the United Kingdom, to help in the arrest of Kurdi through diplomatic channels.
