Saudi authorities prepared to handle Haj season


(MENAFN) Saudi Health officials said they are prepared for the Haj season that will start this week, and they are prepared to handle any outbreak of disease or a stampede.

The Saudi Arabian government said that around 1.735 million pilgrims arrived from abroad for the ritual, religious duty for a once in a lifetime to every able-bodied Muslim who can afford the journey.

Two years earlier, the annual gathering of Muslims seen numerous deadly stampede, which killed hundreds of worshippers.

Also, Hussein Ghanam, who oversees the health ministry"s haj operations, said that the authorities are prepared in case of another stampede.
