Extreme Sailing Series Act: Oman Air keeps third spot

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) It was a mixed day for Oman Sail entry, Oman Air, on the second day of Act Six of the 2017 Extreme Sailing Series (ESS) in Cardiff on Saturday.

Skippered by Phil Robertson, Oman Air recorded a race win among its three podium finishes from the six races on Saturday to remain at third spot with 75 points, trailing the leader by nine points. Four podium finishes, including two bullets, were enough for SAP Extreme Sailing Team to take the overnight lead (84 points) with Alinghi in hot pursuit at second spot with 80.

Oman Air skipper Robertson said, 'Today was a bit of a horrid day for us, we didn't really gel and we didn't get the boat going in the right places.'

'We snuck a few good results in but when we weren't in the podium we were doing a lot of damage and that's not what you want to do, you want to keep it consistent,' he added.

After ten races in the Flying Phantom Series, ZEPHYR by Idreva, crewed by Charles Hainneville and Antoine Rucard, still tops the standings.

Cardiff Act standings [after day two]: 1 SAP Extreme Sailing Team (84), 2 Alinghi (80), 3 Oman Air (75), 4 NZ Extreme Sailing Team (73), 5 Red Bull Sailing Team (68), 6 Land Rover BAR Academy (66), 7 Team Extreme Wales (58).
