Oman- Olympic Solidarity Committee organises its first meeting


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Olympic Solidarity Committee of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held its first meeting on Tuesday at the Conference Hall at the OOC Building under the chairmanship of Sheikh Badr bin Ali al Rawas, committee chairman.

The meeting reviewed the committee's terms of reference and the activities carried out over the past period. It also reviewed the Olympic Solidarity's 2017-2020 Programme and the relevant positive changes made thereof which would have an effective bearing on qualifying and training sports cadres.

Several topics of interest relating to the terms of reference and duties of the committee members were also discussed during the meeting. These included the courses aimed at honing and qualifying sports leaders and uplifting their skills, nominations for post-graduate courses in sports management and Olympic studies and cooperation and coordination with the other OOC's supporting committees to enable them to take advantage of the Olympic Solidarity Programmes.

The meeting also discussed setting up a working team to be concerned with conducting interviews of candidates nominated for various courses of the Olympic Solidarity in compliance with international selection criteria. The participants also reviewed and discussed the initial perspective of the Omani Olympic Academy project, which would serve a large segment of athletes and sports stakeholders in various disciplines.

The chairman of Olympic Solidarity Committee stressed on the need to maximise the benefit from all available opportunities provided by the Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee.
