Doha: Qatar Airways has warned public against participating in fraudulent competitions offering Qatar Airways tickets as prize.
The airline said that this is not an official Qatar Airways competition and participating may compromise the user's personal information.
The airline further said that all their competitions and offers are available on their official website or official social media channels.
Qatar's national airline tweeted a ‘Public alert on fraudulent competition' saying that 'It has come to our attention that members of the public are being encouraged to participate in a fraudulent sweepstake to win Qatar
Airways travel tickets after sharing it on Facebook.
'Please note that this is not an official Qatar Airways competition, and participating may compromise your personal information.
'All Qatar Airways official competitions are announced on Qatar Airways official social media channels and on the qatarairways.com website.
For some time, people were sharing some fake links on social media urging public to share the link to win tickets from Qatar Airways. Clicking on fake or compromised links could cause malware attack on your computer or smartphone.
It's very important to make sure any link you click is from an authenticated or trusted source. Some fake links looks very close to the real ones with a very small difference in spelling to dupe the unsuspecting user.
There were other such fake competitions before offering iPhones as the giveaway.
