Jordan- Egypt temporarily opens Rafah crossing for Gaza pilgrims

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Cairo, Aug. 27 (Petra) -- Egyptian authorities Sunday opened the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip to allow stranded Palestinians and pilgrims to move in and out of the blockaded territory.

An Egyptian source said the terminal will remain open for two days until Aug. 28 in both directions to allow Gazan pilgrims and other Palestinians to cross on humanitarian grounds.

Muslim pilgrims leave for Mecca to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage ahead of next week's Eid al-Adha festival -- one of the two most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar.
