AIHR appoints human rights ambassador in Jordan

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Aug. 27 (Petra) -- The Tunisia-based Arab Institute for Human Rights (AIHR) Sunday decided to appoint President of the Academy of Change for Democracy and Development Studies, Kamal Al-Mashreqi, as Human Rights ambassador in Jordan given his vast experience in the field of human rights and international protection.

Mashreqi told Petra that the selection was made as a result of studies he had submitted in the field of promoting human rights in the Kingdom.

His appointment also comes for his efforts to foster a culture of human rights, promote a strategic plan for the institute and communicate with persons belonging to various age groups who work to consolidate a human rights-based approach in the region and beyond, said Al-Mashreqi.

AIHR is an independent Arab non-governmental organization based in Tunisia. It was founded in 1989. The Institute received the UNESCO International Award for Human Rights Education for the year 1992. It enjoys a special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and an observer status with the Arab Human Rights Standing Committee of the Arab League.
