Turkey reinstates hundreds of policemen


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Interior Ministry said Friday it would reinstate hundreds of police officers who had been suspended from their jobs for suspected links to Fethullah group.

The ministry said in a statement that 734 police officers would be reinstated, ending their suspension since the failed coup attempt in July 2016.

Earlier Friday, the government officially fired 928 public workers suspected of having links to terrorist organizations and groups, while giving some workers sacked before a chance to return as civil servants.

Turkey witnessed a failed coup attempt on July 15, 2016, accusing Fetullah group of having been behind it. (end) rs.mt
