Jordan- PM meets Czech senate president

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prague, August 23 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Hani al-Mulqi Wednesday met in Prague with President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Milan Stech, and discussed with him relations between Jordan and the central European nation and ways of cementing them in various domains.

They discussed a number of Middle East issues, namely terrorism, which the prime minister said, has nothing to do with Islam. In this context, Al-Mulqi stressed that defeating terrorism will reflect on regional peace and stability.

Speaking on Syria and refugee crisis, he said that the only way to end the conflict in this Arab country is through a political solution, asserting that Jordan is committed to a safe and humane return of the Syrian refugees to their country. The prime minister emphasized that the Palestinian issue is the central issue in the Middle East, and remains the core of the conflict and instability in the region, pointing to the urgent need to restart the peace process to establish a Palestinian state on pre-1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In turn, Stech said his country appreciates Jordan's efforts and role in supporting regional security and stability. He added that His Majesty King Abdullah II represents a voice of moderation and reason in the region, and always advocates political solutions to current crises.

He pointed out that the failure to resolve the Palestinian issue has a key role in the problems of the Middle East and said: "We support the two-state solution and believe it is the most appropriate solution".
