Tests show that Filipino maid in Macau has dengue fever

A 48-year-old domestic worker from the Philippines is now in hospital after health authorities confirmed she has dengue fever – the seventh imported case reported in Macau this year.

The Health Bureau in Macau said the woman lives in VA Pou Garden building in Taipa. She arrived in Macau on Saturday and had fever, frequent urination, dysuria and had felt weak since the Sunday before.

The woman was admitted to Kiang Wu Hospital for medical treatment on Monday.

Laboratory results confirmed on Tuesday that she had dengue fever and officials said she is the seventh imported case reported in Macau this year.

Officials said members of her employer's family had not showed any symptoms of dengue so far.

The bureau will conduct mosquito prevention measures in the neighborhood where the maid lives.
