Teamwork key to resurgence of Tennis, says Kuwaiti official

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Khaled Jabbar TUNIS, Aug 22 (KUNA) -- Arab nations should work closely together to further develop the sport of tennis in the region, a Kuwaiti sports official said on Tuesday.

Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of a ceremony held to honor him, the Chairman of both the Kuwaiti and Arab tennis federations Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was" thankful for being feted by Tunisia", an accolade he described as a testament to Kuwait's support of the sport of tennis.

"This sport can be taken to new heights only with cooperation and collective work on the part of Arab countries," he added.

Meanwhile, Tunisia's Minister of Youth and Sports Majdouline Cherni cited an Arab amateur tennis championship currently hosted by the North African nation, which features around 120 competitors.

"We would like to be the first to congratulate Kuwait on this honor," the Tunisian minister noted.

Kuwait's Ambassador to Tunis Ali Al-Theferi was grateful for the honor as well, saying it was the result of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber's strenuous efforts to push the sport of tennis to new levels of fame. (end) ksj.nam
