President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this at a solemn ceremony of raising the National Flag of Ukraine on Sofiivska Square in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
'The fate of an independent state depends on each of us, but our main force is the Armed Forces, the National Guard and other law enforcement agencies that protect the country from Russian aggression, Poroshenko said.
The president also stressed that the assertion of independence is the responsibility of the current generation.
