Oman- 62 students awarded certificates in ELS graduation ceremony

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- For the first time in Oman, English Language Services (ELS) held its graduation programme for students below the age of 15 years at its centre on Monday. ELS provides services and training for TOEFL examinations around the world.

Sixty-two students were given certificates after they underwent a summer training programme for three weeks under five teachers for two and a half hours, five days a week. Twenty-six students will be given certificates in the second stage. The students were divided into two categories: Primary (8-11 years) and Junior (12-16 years).

The certificates awarded to students also assess the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate so that the schools can work on their English language skills. Hussein Hassnaoui, general manager, ELS said, 'We are the first to bring ELS to Oman and at present we have ten centres including those in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. Besides training university and school students, we also conduct classes for private and government entities. ELS also does a fair assessment of the students to help schools, teachers and parents work on the problem areas.'

He added that Junior TOEFL was conducted to promote the idea that English must be taught early in life. ELS has its centres spread across the country and holds examinations for TOEFL every month. On an average more than 20 students appear for the exam which is held twice a month. Omanis constitute a majority of the students.
